If you’re landscaping your yard, installing a patio or just doing some gardening, Union County Landscape and Garden Supply, 1455 St. George Avenue, is the place for you.

The landscape supply store offers all of the materials the “do it yourself” homeowner needs, but the real draw of the business is the personalized attention each customer receives. Customers are encouraged to explain their project to owner James Palermo or other qualified staff members, ask questions, and compare and contrast products until they find the materials that are absolutely perfect for their job. They leave with the proper supplies and advice on how to complete the job effectively.

“We’re not a big box store,” Palermo said. “You won’t have to stand in line to get answers. We have people here who will be able to help you find exactly what you need.”

Palermo, a former excavating contractor, opened Union County Landscape and Garden Supply in June of 2008. He saw an opportunity to offer a service that wasn’t previously available in the St. George Avenue area. The business offers everything from vegetable plants, flowers and shrubs to masonry supplies, building supplies, bricks and retaining walls. Grass seed, fertilizer and mulch are also big sellers.

Seasonal items are popular at the store. Palermo currently has a fall harvest display set up outside the store, with pumpkins and fall flowers. Pumpkins, corn stalks and hay bells are now on sale. In December, they will give way to firewood, Christmas trees and rock salt. In the spring, flowers, vegetable plants and topsoil will be big sellers.

Union County Landscape and Garden Supply is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. seven days a week from March through December and Monday through Saturday in January and February.
